Mō te tūnga | About the role:

You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the health and well-being of our residents by preparing delicious, nutritious, and safe meals tailored to our residents individual dietary needs. You will ensure the seamless operation of our kitchen, maintaining high standards of hygiene and compliance with our Food Control Plan. Collaborating closely with the kitchen team, you will help create a positive dining experience, delivering high-quality meals that support our residents’ comfort and care.

Our Village provides a warm, inviting atmosphere where rest home, hospital, and respite care is delivered with kindness and respect. We are seeking a flexible cook who is comfortable working on a casual basis, with shifts across 7 days a week, including weekends as needed. Ngā kawenga | Key Responsibilities: 

As our Cook you will be responsible for:

  • preparing and cook a variety of nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of all our residents
  • ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and health and safety policies 
  • manage the timely and accurate ordering of food and kitchen supplies 
  • leading and developing the kitchen team to enhance their knowledge and skills

To thrive in our supportive and caring environment you will need:

  • proven experience as a cook, with a strong focus on maintaining food standards and dietary needs
  • a warm and approachable demeanor that fosters a positive and inviting experience for the kitchen team and our residents
  • an understanding or eagerness to learn about modified textures and fluid diets to cater to the specific needs of our residents 
  • a passion for developing and supporting team members
  • the capability to maintain composure and efficiency while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, meeting deadlines without compromising on quality
